Return to Inclusive, Collaborative Decision Making

Give everyone a voice.

Break the gridlock.

David Smith will work to see that all interested stakeholders have a voice in the decisions made by the city council.  Recently, two major political factions appear to have developed in our city.  Each feels the other does not respect their perspectives.  An adversarial relation between the factions leads to gridlock.  Worse, many in our city are not part of either faction and feel they are left out.

On all issues, as he did when previously serving on council, David will welcome the perspectives, concerns and ideas from any and all Plano citizens and other stakeholders.  Further, David will reach out to people who may be interested but were previously unaware of an emerging issue.  David will spend time learning from any and all.  He will not limit input just to testimony in council meetings.  David will value and respect all perspectives, concerns and ideas and will encourage his colleagues to do the same.  David will make decisions based on perspectives, concerns and ideas and will encourage his colleagues to do the same.  David will promote non-adversarial, collaborative consideration of the perspectives, concerns and ideas that may exist around some issues.  Where appropriate, David will facilitate compromise or consensus among those who may have different perspectives, concerns or ideas on an issue.
